Manny Banuelos makes the start for Trenton tonight.

It’s a beautiful day for baseball here at Waterfront Park, where the Trenton Thunder will be playing host to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (the AA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays). The Thunder went 1-3 in their last series against the Fisher Cats (4/7 – 4/10), but defeated them last night by a score of 6-2.

Manny Banuelos (0-0, 1.42 ERA) will square off against Joel Carreno (0-2, 7.02) tonight. First pitch at 7:05 pm.

Here are tonight’s starting lineups:

THUNDER LINEUP: Krum LF, Brewer RF, Romine C, Suttle 3B, Mesa CF, Joseph 2B, Pirela SS, Kruml DH, Maruszak 1B

FISHER CATS LINEUP: Hechavarria SS, Gose 1B, McDade 1B, Sierra RF, Stansberry 3B, Sobolewski DH, Tolisano LF, Gomes C, Crabbe 2B

TOP 1ST: Adeiny Hechavarria chops it to the shortstop Pirela for the first out. Banuelos strikes out Anthony Gose. Mike McDade hits one over the head of Banuelos, but Joseph gets to it and throws to first for the final out. Banuelos touched 94 mph on the fastball, and threw 13 of his 16 pitches for strikes.

BOTTOM 1ST: Austin Krum goes down on strikes. Dan Brewer launches it to right field, but a sprinting Moises Sierra is able to get there and make the grab at the warning track. Austin Romine strikes out looking to end the inning.

TOP 2ND: Moises Sierra knocks a base hit to left field to start off the inning, but is thrown out at second base. Craig Stansberry knocks a broken-bat screamer at Banuelos, but Banuelos is quick to react and throws to Maruszak for the out. Mark Sobolewski flies out to Brewer to end the inning. Banuelos at 33 pitches, 22 of them for strikes.

BOTTOM 2ND: Bradley Suttle gets a base hit to shallow right field. Melky Mesa hits it to deep left, but Tolisano is at the warning track for the easy out. Suttle advances on a wild pitch by Carreno, and Corban Joseph brings him in with a base knock to right field. Jose Pirela pops out to the catcher, and Kruml flies out to right to end the inning. Trenton up 1-0.

TOP 3RD: John Tolisano grounds out to Corban Joseph. Yan Gomes strikes out, and Callix Crabbes walks. Hechavarria flies out to center to cap off the top of the third. Banuelos is at 49 pitches (33 for strikes) and has given up one hit and one walk so far.

BOTTOM 3RD: Addison Maruszak pops out to the third baseman Stansberry for the first out of the bottom half. Same fate for Krum. Brewer flies out to centerfield.

TOP 4TH: Gose gets a single to centerfield. Brewer makes a nice sliding catch to get McDade out. Gose steals second and advances to third on a Sierra groundout to Pirela. Banuelos throws a wild pitch, scoring Gose. Stansberry draws a walk, but Banuelos gets Sobolewski on a weakly-hit ball to second to get out of the jam. He’s now at 73 pitches, 47 for strikes. We’re all tied at 1 run apiece.

BOTTOM 4TH: Romine flies out to right field to lead off the inning, but Bradley Suttle crushes a bases-empty home run to put Trenton back out ahead. That’s immediately followed up by strikeouts by both Mesa and Joseph, but the Thunder are back ahead. Thunder lead 2-1.

TOP 5TH: Tolisano gets a base hit to start the inning and steals second on a 3-1 count from Banuelos to Gomes. Gomes strikes out, and Crabbe chops one to Suttle for the second out. That’ll be all for Banuelos–manager Tony Franklin pulls him and calls on Kei Igawa to finish off the inning. Final line for Banuelos: 4.2 IP, 88 pitches, 56 strikes, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 K and a wild pitch.

Igawa makes quick work of Hechavarria, getting him to fly out to left for the final out.

BOTTOM 5TH: Jose Pirela flies out leading off the inning, and Ray Kruml hits a single to right field. Maruszak hits a two-run homer off of the left-field wall on a 3-1 count, putting Trenton up by three. Austin Krum strikes out, and Dan Brewer flies out to the warning track in center field. Trenton leads 4-1.

TOP 6TH: Gose gets on base with a liner to right field. McDade pops out to the first baseman Maruszak. Sierra flies out to centerfield, followed by a stolen base by Gose. Stansberry strikes out swinging to end the inning.

BOTTOM 6TH: Romine flies out to the right-field corner. Suttle, who hit a monster shot to put Trenton ahead earlier in the game, strikes out. Mesa hits a weak grounder to third to end the inning.

TOP 7TH: Igawa back on the mound for Trenton, but is still dealing: he gets both Sobolewski and Tolisano down on strikes. Gomes flies out to right field to end the inning.

BOTTOM 7TH: Corban Joseph draws a walk to lead off the inning. Jose Pirela strikes out, as does Ray Kruml. Maruszak walks, putting runners on first and second for Krum. Fisher Cats manager Sal Fasano takes Carreno out of the game and brings in Ronald Uviedo in relief. Carreno’s line: 6.2 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 7 K, 2 HR, 1 wild pitch. It takes one pitch for Uviedo to get out of the jam, getting Krum to hit a weak grounder to the first baseman McDade for the final out.

TOP 8TH: Brian Anderson comes in to relieve Igawa. Igawa’s final line: 2.1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 3K.

Crabbe flies out to the center fielder Mesa for the first out. Hechavarria also flies out to Mesa, but Anthony Gose  hits a squibbler up the middle that gets through for a base hit. Mike McDade strikes out looking to end the top half of the inning.

BOTTOM 8TH: Short night for Uviedo–one batter, one pitch, one out, and that’s it. Matt Daly now in for the Fisher Cats. Dan Brewer grounds out, and Romine pops out to second. Suttle strikes out swinging to bring up the top of the 9th and last licks for the Fisher Cats.

TOP 9TH: Fernando Hernandez comes in to shut the door for Trenton. Anderson’s final line: 1 IP, 1H, 1K. Moises Sierra flies out to shallow right for the first out. Stansberry flies out to shallow left, and Sobolewski grounds out to Suttle for the final out.

The Trenton Thunder win, 4-1. Kei Igawa gets the win for Trenton, and Carreno is saddled with the loss. Hernandez gets the save.
